Re: authentic living
Tue, February 15, 2005 - 10:50 AMyour "href" worked...
and thanks for your posting.
i just recently drove my daughter to school.
before i did i asked her which car did she want me to drive her to school with.
mind you... i am visiting my daughter at her home in morgan hill, just north of gilroy.
and her mom, whom is married to a millionaire, ownes a huge explorer type vehicle.
my car is... well... check out my images.
so... i offered her a choice.
she choose the more authentic of the two.
which reminde me of how important it is to live your life outside of the systems... and allowing folks to notice how authentic existing reminds them of how they used to be before they became who they are. and sometimes these idea... like being vegan can be so refreshing and beneficial.
yet any tyranical dogmas can easily become a put of.
so... freedom to be is crucial in becoming authentic, aware.
and i agree that in the here and now is crucial.
yet, as the organic folks reminds us... what we do know has its repercussions.
there are other pitfalls of the here and now...
but the feeling you get when you live for the moment(s) and
try and extend those thoughts towards... upcoming moments, although fleeting, can be priceless.

Re: authentic living
Tue, February 15, 2005 - 1:18 PMyes absolutely.
I think that being present in one's life also means being aware of the consequences of one's actions in the present.
i think of presence in ones life as a little separate from living for the present ..or 'now'...
being present in ones life just means being as engaged as possible in the actions you take, the emotions you engage in, the relationships you nurture, etc.
freedom to be. i agree. (ah, memories of Free to Be You and Me ... did anyone else have that as a kid? ah the crunchy hippie goodness . feministy and so funny to listen to now, but so good!)
awesome of your kid to pick the authentic :)

Re: authentic living
Tue, February 15, 2005 - 3:35 PMshe picked the car in which she helped developed.
for me it was nice to see how her pride was blossoming in
an area so conservative as the southbay.
also, as you have mentioned, the desire of reaching back to the
innocence of childhood is tempting...
yet, i have heard and am a victim of innocence lost and or destroyed.
where the options were demolished by not only the aggressive
behaviors of adults... but the damaging snowball affect of the kids and their
anger... victimizing whoever is within their reach. the bully complex.
what authenticity is to me is living to buck the system...
and most teenager are not in agreement with the systems
their parents and or siblings, usually older, bestows upon them.
unless the love is pure... authentic.
